About
About The Project
The Space Between is a community art exhibition honoring survivors of domestic violence and those who create in solidarity with them.
When we think about domestic violence, we often think about the moments of crisis: the emergency call, the escape, the immediate need to get somewhere safe. Those moments matter. But they are only one part of a much larger journey. There is a space between surviving violence and rebuilding a life. It is where survivors navigate the complicated, often invisible work of healing—unlearning hypervigilance, rebuilding trust, rediscovering identity, and teaching a mind and body that have lived in survival mode how to experience safety.
The Space Between invites us to look at that journey. Through art created by survivors and by artists creating in honor of survivors, the exhibition makes visible the experiences that can be difficult to put into words: the grief, anger, uncertainty, resilience, hope, and transformation that exist between crisis and healing. This exhibition is a reminder that survival is not a single moment. It’s a journey.
